Hi there i'm just wondering is this a good personal statement for university in order to study Geography, thanks :) Being interested in the world and it's numerous issues has always been part of who I am, I don't know where I’d be if I never came across them. I've been lucky enough to study the subject of Geography. I believe it's that exact subject of which has given me these thoughts and feelings towards our planet. Learning about the world, the social, economic and environmental issues it has, it's structural design and the wars people have over it's valuable resources is what makes me receive out of bed in the morning and want to learn more, it's what motivates me. Being able to look every these elements before my time is up on this planet is my dream. I have found Geography fascinating for as long as I can remember. When I was young, I would always be the one in the car reading the road map, making sure that my dad was travelling in the correct direction to receive us where we wanted to be. Despite travelling being important to me, it's the assisting of others that I am more focused on. Those who wake up, day after day with nothing to look forward to, nothing to aim for and no career path to submerge themselves into. To alter this requires a high level of knowledge. The knowledge to develop, to improve, to understand how these people are feeling and what fears they have. This is why I aim to study Geography at University. Taking a gap year seemed like the most sensible thing to do after completing my A Level studies at Bilborough College. During that time I have tried to find my true self, tried to hear to my heart, follow it in every decision I have made and let it guide me on to opportunities I never thought I was capable of taking. Assisting a charity isn't on everybody's agenda, but I’m not everybody, like I have said, I have an aim of improving life for others and making a difference to the world. By working for keep the kids, I believe this was a good place to start. Doing such work showed me that people were more generous then what I first thought, I didn't think there were people like me in the world. I believe university will give me the opportunity to meet more people similar to myself. I have continued my helping nature to this day by participating in voluntary work for Oxfam. I like voluntary work a lot, It gives me a sense of pride. Many people say that doing voluntary work is working for nothing, I’d disagree. I believe it's working to make a difference and to me that is another step forward to what I want to achieve. I tend to consume my spare time wisely, as time is a valuable resource. I like doing research, looking up factual information and trying to develop my knowledge. Music is also important to me, it's what gets me in the correct mindset to continue and achieve, each new tune I discover is like another piece of the jigsaw to success. Despite not being a natural at sport myself, I do like keeping informed with the latest football news and I tend to watch every the major sporting events. Knowing what is occurring in my local constituency is also important to me. I believe it allows us to be more prepared and more understanding of where we live. So why should I be chosen to be accepted into your university? I’ll explain. I want to bring something special to your university, a positive input, an individual who smiles when they turn up to lecture, looking forward to their next dose of the subject. Somebody who is outgoing, friendly and polite with a 'can-do' attitude. An individual who drains the last drop out of everything they face and turns it into something unique. Not just a student but an individual striving to succeed in order to do every the things I have mentioned. When I've made everybody else glad, that is when I will be fulfilled and know that I have achieved something quite remarkable.

I know it's nice of a odd question, but I dream every night, and I remember every of them. They are every different types dreams unhappy, bad, scary, glad, and many more. I'm not a depressed person, or anything I'm glad and not deprived or anything either I have a good life but my dreams mainly focus on more unhappy/scary/lifethreating kinds dreams. I'm only 15 idk if this matters but I'm 6foot 1inch and 200 pounds I lift for sports and things I have nice of a busy life between school lifting basketball/football/ track practice.

Seriously. It honestly doesn’t affect my life in any way. Whenever I watch football with other people, I look how emotional (I’m talking ANGER) they receive and it confuses me. If a team full of members with million dollar contracts loses, they receive mad - but yet, they don’t show any emotion whatsoever over things that ACTUALLY matter in the world (for example, the fact that there are people in this world who would walk 10 miles to receive dirty water for people in their village every single day, and despite these extraordinary efforts there are people who die of dehydration and hunger). I mean, there are so many problems in this world, that's just one. On a more modest note, people receive more emotional over watching football than they do actually playing a sport themselves. Think "We Like Sports" by The Lonely Island. That wouldn't have been made and people wouldn't giggle if it wasn't true... I played varsity football and varsity soccer in high school, and though I haven't continued playing NCAA in college I'm still on my school's club soccer team because I like sports. But again, I don't understand why people receive so mad about that stuff. Can someone explain to me? So yeah what is this obsession with football? What is this "don't talk to me I had a bad day some team lost a football game" attitude? I think it's so stupid. That's my point, I receive my adrenaline and exhilaration from actually PLAYING sports. And I'd argue that it's a better feeling than watching TV. No matter what you do, you are not a team member of the Giants... their "top of the world" feeling is greater than any fan's. Also, I didn't include this initially because it wasn't relevant to "organized sports" but the biggest adrenaline rushes I have are when I'm either rock climbing, or snowboarding. Nothing better than trad climbing up 3 pitches and looking at the sunrise at the top of a cliff... that's MY "top of the world" feeling. If someone were a true sports fan, wouldn't they rather engage in sports themselves instead of watch other people play it? THAT confuses me so much. @Jerome I do like life (read over), and charity? Actually, I'm finishing up college right now. Then I'm going to join the Peace Corps for 2 years, go to medical school, and once I'm a doctor I'm planning on doing missions in other countries to provide medical relief for such problems mentioned over, and other relief missions (for example, with natural disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti). So yeah I got every that taken care of. I STILL don't understand the hostility amongst football fans...

I met a guy from England in my school today telling me that American sports are varied boring versions of British sports with the exception of basketball. He talked a lot about the beauty of Rugby, Cricket, Field Hockey, F1 and soccer (should be called football). He says those sports are just more physically demanding than American Football, Baseball, Ice Hockey and NASCAR.

I'm talking about... Soccer. Everyone here is like "I hate soccer." Or "Dude, soccer is a pussy sport, so gay." Then why is it the most popular sport in the world? And don't give me that "it's the least expensive sport so everyone plays it" Manchester United is the most expensive club team in the world, of every sports. So why? Why don't they feel what the relax of the world feels when their possess country wins an important match or tournament? Also, the World Cup has been around for ages and the whole world is always prepared and excited for it when it comes around. Why did it take the U.S so long to sort of appreciate it? (2010 world cup was the first time I ever heard Americans on a wide scale talk about it -- good or bad. I'm just wondering is every..

Baseball and the NBA have teams in LA and it is one of the biggest sports cities in America not to have a football team. I know there have been teams in LA before but should they receive one again?

Hi im 14 and a freshmen. Were already about halfway through the year and badminton try outs are coming up. my pal wants me to join but I've never tried it before & scared I might suck. But I'm more nervous about what others might think. Badminton isn't as prestigious as the main sports like football, basketball, & baseball. I dont want others to think Im only joining because Im not good enough to be in any other sport but I really do want to be part of something this year. What to do, help!!!!

Students at a Canadian university participate in various sports in the following proportions: Football 30% Both football and basketball 10% Basketball 40% If a student is selected at random, what is the chance that why would a. play at least one sport? b. play football only? c. play exactly one sport? d. play no sport?

I'm currently out of the united states and I was able to watch some tv on my smart phone but that website firstrow.tv got cancelled. Are there other websites I can go to so I can watch some sports and the football game?

I don’t follow sports that much but I never understood why hockey has only 3 periods but if it is football, football has 4 quarters which is a longer game than hockey is? Why does there have to be 4 periods in football including a half time? In basketball, there’s only 3 periods and in baseball, there is 9 innings? Why are they every different?

Well, I have never been interested in sports every that much. I don't know how to play football and I never have played madden, but a few days ago a pal of mine told me I should go out to play football because I have the body for it. I now really would actually like to try it, and look if I am interested. But I have no clue on how to play. Can someone instruct me about what I should do in this type of situation? Thanks! P.S. Please don't ask me that I should have my pal tutor me. He doesn't play either and is in the same situation I am in.

So basically, the winner will be crowned ''World'' Champions, even though only 1 nation considers Handegg as anything other than time wasting. The ''Super'' bowl will last like 3-5 hours, but the ball will only be active for like 20 minutes, the relax will be commercials. To my understanding, the ''Super'' Bowl is the absolute pinnacle of American Football, yet its viewing audience will be less than the game between Chelsea and Manchester United, where only a maximum of 3 measly points will actually be available. Apart from profiteering and commercialism, does the NFL title match really have any SPORTING significance?

I want to receive my boyfriend something meaningful but not expensive for valentines day. I asked him what he wants and his answer was "i already have what i want, and thats you." It was really sweet but i really wanna receive him something he will adore. He's really into sports, he does wrestling, track, baseball, basketball, and football. His favorite colors are red and black, and he plays black ops and MW3. I really need help!!!!!!!! Please?!?! He already has COD :P and MW3 though

I strongly dislike Football I think it is the most retarded sport out there and I don't look why the Superbowl is so amazing. "i DNT WATCH IT.. & i dont think it's most retarded. FUUU" ... yeah.. that makes sense... Don't understand why people like Football, but whatever, but I find Superbowl parties to be the same as New Years- an excuse to receive drunk.

I always hear people, including some of my friends, talking about football. I've never cared for it, and I've never been interested in it. It's nice of fun to play with friends but I've never enjoyed watching it. I'm not even watching the Superbowl right now. The only sports I like watching are skateboarding, snowboarding, and boxing. Is it weird that I don't care about football?

I mean, you have muscle dudes in tights grappling with each other, tackling, driving and putting their ball in the goal. That sounds homoerotic, in some ways, what do you think?

I agree with the relax of the world. This lame American sport known as "football," is stupid. The relax of the world doesn't care about this event. The World Cup is the world's event and it's much better than the Super Bowl! World Cup > Super Bowl BTW, I'm an American and I prefer the NBA over the NFL! The NBA is much more popular than the NFL worldwide! Basketball is the second most popular sport in the world, and the NBA stars are known 1,000 times more than NFL superstars!

I'm a sophomore in high school but I'm moving to another city and school and want to play foot ball but I've never played before, I play hockey, I've been playing for 4 months and am already as good as the kids that have been playing for years same in baseball and soccer. I'm a natural at sports. I'm very active and fit.

so my girlfriend isn't interested in any nice in football while my ex loves sports. and we're really great friends so she invited me and every of our group of friends to watch the game at her home, when my girlfriend asked me i told her i'm gonna watch the game with my friends so she wasn't interested in coming, but when she found out that it's at my ex's home she flipped out. i'm at my ex's home right now and my girlfriend isn't answering her phone,i'm not gonnamiss this game,i've been born and raised in new york and the giants are playing. so i just want to know if i did anything wrong

And actually almost every sports for that matter...I've just always never found it appealing to watch for instance today I'd rather play Skyrim then watch the superbowl...And i've never ever been able to understand the concept of rooting for a team even though theres no stakes Like my dad will cuss if his fav player will fail or something like. that, Er well I like the superbowl commercials but..so does everyone Lol, you know I have a girlfriend @Richard S Because I wanted to know if there are any other people that don't like as well....like every of my pal like it "Am I the only guy....?" Is a question not a statement.

so i am going to my new school and i was wondering should i just concentrate on schoolwork and homework or start doing other activities my mom says i should start doing highland dancing and she would pay for my kilts and competitions, my dad wants me to do bagpipes and my pal wants me to do swimming and football so should i and if so which ones

In the name of today's Super Bowl, I was wondering why the world puts so much into sports. Shouldn't we only be rewarding raw brain power--in other words reward those who really solve our world's important problems. I take particular offence because I went to high school with inferior students. I was close the top of my class. Some of those inferior students with football, golf, soccer, swimming, etc skills got full ride scholarships to better schools than I did. Then they went on to receive better jobs than I did because of their sports fame and school brand. So I guess if you can toss a foot ball well and graduated from USC, and carry a ring from winning a big game on January 1st, you are really qualified to be a senior VP of a fortune 500 company? I feel if you want to toss a ball around or run or swim, fine, but should we be putting such value on it...when it solves none of life's important issues other than general physical fitness (which I do believe we should promote). I make the best of big game days. I can at least catch a buzz on a few beers and socialize...but that's every I receive out of it...1/2 the time I don't even know who's playing. I manage some accounts with big companies. A long time ago someone told me to always glance at the paper and become familiar with the big ideas in sports that week. It works...people really value sports...knowing a little and asking people's opinions about it is a great way to make sales or remove obsticals...but why is it so valued and important to people. I'd rather talk about what percentage chance we have of finding Alien life in 20 years.

I am a Barcelona fan and I would like an app (paid or free) soccer app that tells you latest football news/score I found Football Rumours but it's only for English Premier League and same goes for Sky Sports football I have ESPN score middle but it's a bit slow and does not give you every football news I downloaded FC Barcelona app but it's useless

Is there a law or rule that says if there is not girls team then girls can play with guys?? I want to play rugby at my school (it is a club not a school sport) and my dad is one of the coaches and he says there is no way i can play. Girls can play football, so why not rugby!? Is there legal proof that says i can play?

Many critics of college sports, football and basketball in particular, argue that athletes at the major universities are exploited by the monopsony power of the NCAA. On a graph, illustrate what nonunion athletes face in the market for their services. Then, on the same graph, illustrate what would happen in this labor market if college athletes formed a union. Make sure you discuss what would happen to the equilibrium number of players on each team, the earnings athletes would take in, and the impact on the difference between earnings and the marginal revenue product of labor.

I am 5'8 120 pounds and I am VERY athletic. I played football for my school (first girl) well I played in a practice season for like two weeks but I had to quit cause I drag races on weekends. And I don't know much about the sport so if you could tell me what position I should play and the basics of the game then I would be glad. Oh and I have a pretty strong arm and can catch but sometimes I side arm:( and when I played I WANTED TO PLAY CATCHER!! I LOVED IT!!! But I don't really wanna play that now

I can round up 45 drunks that could arrive up with a 0 and 18 (?) season to play football for at lot less than $6 million each.

I'll bet that if there were a soccer match on TV today they would watch that instead of the Superbowl. Why do libs prefer a socialist sport over a capitalist sport? Soccer is the sport of Europe, a socialist country where guns are outlawed and gasoline costs ten dollars a gallon and where holocaust denial is illegal and taxes eat up 80% of your income. Is this why soccer is the one sport liberals adore?

Hello everyone, I am 19 years old, I live in Cambridgeshire which is in England. I am currently unemployed, I have never had a oaid job. I have got 18 months of work experience (Voluntary) I have worked at the Co-Op and at Tesco. I have just recently started as a volunteer at Oxfam, and I have just recently started my maths level 2 qualification (If you want to look a list of every of my qualifications then please check out my other questions) I just want to know should I take any job even if it is cleaning, and would I be able to work my way up? I would one day like to be a Youth Worker in sports and I would like to work with kids and young people in football coaching, that is my aim one day. But for the time being I would like a retail job? But I just want to know, if I got a job as a Customer Assistant, would I be able to work my way up? And can you please explain what the next roles are after Customer Assistant, and how long it might take to work up to that level? And could you please explain what I should do in order to work my way up the career ladder, and what steps to take? Thank you so much in advance for every of your help, I am very greatful.

My pal told me its a retarded.sport which is crap because every.u look is people run back and worth every time and that it requires no skill to have. I personally like football. my pal also calls me gay, and a meathead for liking football. How do I close his trap. he mentions tbe superbowl.as the most retarded thing ever. I dont want to feel weaker towards him for liking football. I personally like it because teams try every game and.doesnt have as many blowouts unlike the n.b.a.

i was watching the news last night and it was every about the super bowl. like thousands of fans were cheering and waving posters around with face paint. i was like "whats so damn exciting?". i got even more confused when on the show i was watching had a segment where they were talking to this guy who said something about being able to watch the super bowl on your mobile device and that it was the first time you could do it. the guys face was so enthusiastic about this fact and then he said he was going to toss a Super bowl party...WTH? is the super bowl really that great that youd even toss a fancy party just to watch T.V.? and WHO THE HELL WOULD WATCH THE SUPER BOWL ON A CELLPHONE WHEN YOU COULD JUST GO WATCH IT ON TV OR A BAR. i cant rap my head around it. what is it about sports thats so attractive and exciting? from football to baseball and even college basketball...just try to explain please :( No, i'm a Guy. but to be fair i am really artistic not that artistic people cant like sports, I dont know... Oh arrive on :( its not like i dont respect other peoples interests. like i said im really artistic so i receive criticized alot to. every im saying is that maybe the super bowl is a bit ...overrated.

I try to tell myself that the world prob won't cease using leather and other materials just because I disapprove, so is that any reason to not like the sport? I wish the NFL would use non-leather gear! Thanks!

I am in high school, and I really really adore football. The only thing is, well, I'm a girl. Also, my school is EXTREMELY good/obsessed with sports so I feel a little intimidated. Also, I'm not amazing at football, but I can toss and catch really well, plus I'm passionate about it. What should I do?

I disagree with this quote. I ballroom dance and play soccer/football. Both are difficult in their possess ways and i don't think one is better than the other. They both involve a lot of work and dedication. I think people who agree with this quote are people who have never played any other sport except for dancing. Do you agree or disagree with this quote? Why? Thank you. BQ- Are you watching the Superbowl today?

My boyfriend and I are both 15 years old. He's really into sports like baseball and football, but mostly he dips (Like tabacco.. I know it's disgusting, please don't remind me :/ haha) But I have no idea what to receive him for Valentines day! We've been dating for 6 months on the 14th, (which happens to be valentines dy ahah) Thanks!

I'm from the US and I adore football (soccer). By far the best sport in the world and the Premier League is the best league. I'm trying to receive my pal to like soccer but he wants a team to root for. I'm personally an Arsenal fan but my pal wants to be different. He wants a team that is on TV a lot because here in the US we receive limited amounts of games. He doesn't like traditional powers but he likes a team that can compete with the best.

im trying to receive into american football so i can tutor it to sports class could someone help me with the concept of it and what you have to do etc?

I'm from Minnesota and only watch the Vikings football games, I've never seen a superbowl or playoff or regular season game if the Vikings weren't in it. I have no interest in any other game.

These are hardcore fans and colleagues and I know NOTHING of sports. Why do they battle each other and knock each other to the ground? Hockey players do this too, right? If a player is running with a football he is trying to toss the ball in between the those bars to make a home run. Why chase and drag them to the ground!!?? I think there is a referee, if he is not going to cease this WHY is he there? Also, my co-worker got $10 from me and I filled out this raffle/bet paper. I didn't ask what it was but receive the impression it's a lottery or for a door prize?? Everyone is wearing fan shirts. I have absolutely NO idea where to receive one! If superbowl is the BIGGEST and best place for athletes, can I treat it like the Olympics of football and where red, white, and blue? Or is that tacky? Finally, what nice of food should I take? A birthday cake but have it say "SuperBowl" on it? Or should I bring a Publix snack tray? Hopefully, I can pretend I know what I am watching! Thanks for your help!

Tonight is the superbowl and I don't know a lot of the rules but from what I know it's an interesting sport. But to like a sport more I need to know the rules and regulations in a simplified way

Recently at my school, there was a big commotion about 2 students going into UCLA and Fresno. I'm just curious at why they receive scholarships when most football players at my school are doing horribly at school. Is football really that important to colleges? I might have this every wrong, but it just seems that way from what I've seen. It's just sports; do sports help humanity in any way? I'm just ranting. * What I mean by "horribly at school" is that their grades/GPA are bad.

Tomorrow, I have been invited to a party to watch a super bowl with a few of my friends, but my girlfriend has other plans. She isn't too much into football, let alone any sports, and says she wants to spend time with me instead as we hardly spend time with one another, since we both work a lot during the week and only spend time with each other during the weekend. She joked that however long the super bowl is, that is long her and I would have sex and fool around. As of this moment, I'm thinking about skipping watching the big game and being with my gf, but I just wanted to know what you would do?

BTW - I put this in Football because I know that your big game is Football (not our football your football -- so I figured your big game/match would involve your football) Ok -- so what is the big game you every adore to watch - obviously ours is the Super Bowl. Do you every have a huge game where the entire country throws parties and everything else comes to a halt for the day so you can every watch the game together - albeit in a million different homes? I wish so -- Super Bowl is always so much fun here -- I am so excited about tonight I am shaking now just thinking of the game (OMG -- so awesome!!!!) -- I would adore to think you receive to that once a year too. Does the whole family receive involved? My kids are dying as well -- we are every rooting for the Giants! Should be such a great game tonight -- New England and New York have a crazy rivalry in every sport and we (NY) have a wacky pseudo home team advantage in Indianapolis because of our Manning connection and the fact that Indiana HATES New England (woo hoo!!!!!!) So I know you every hate American Football -- but what is the big game/match you every wait for every year? And don't say every weekend, because we have our weekly games too -- but what is the big one -- the one absolutely no one would miss watching. Go BIG BLUE!!!! I adore me my Eli Manning!!!

Alright I never played football on a team but I like the sport I watch NFL but I'm mad over the Patriots loss but I dont really have a good catching or throwing ability and I don't want to sign up for a team because I'm bad and I don't really have a defense ability so I need to know how to improve in everything and yes and no I wont quit wanting to play football

If I went to a basketball game for an example, what will happen if I ran across the field and tripped one of the players during a national football game? This includes if I run on a baseball field while a baseball game is playing, run on the court during a national basketball game, and even try to go on the ice while hockey is playing where I disrupt the game and try to go on national TV with being goofy to the players? What will happen? Will I receive arrested for this? Just imagine if I tried to put myself on TV and did my possess show in front of the camera in front thousands of viewers across the nation!!!!! Or what will happen if I was being silly with trying to receive myself playing the sport with the team with disrupting the sport? Will I receive in trouble for this

They are sarcastically advertised A LOT during sports games and I know its a stupid question, but they actually look kinda sick and I would def buy one of those for pick-up games if they are real....also please no hating I know it might seem dumb, but marketing wise to receive their name more out there its not that unrealistic of them to do it. BTW Congrats Giants, you officially got one lucky player (David Tyree), to make 2 catches, to win you 2 lucky superbowl wins; even though statistically you played a worser season and game as a team and as MOST individuals for key positions....but then again whats a Giant/New Yorker to a faggit (not much)......Good season Pats you deserved it more, MHK †R.I.P "to make 2 **LUCKY** catches, to win you 2 lucky superbowl wins."

I've watched every single Chelsea match since 1995, I know our squad inside out, I know our history, I know the rule book the 10 fingers on my hand, I captained my school team for 5 years, until I graduated, and helped coach it for 2. Ignorance is bliss. Have you ever been called a casual football fan? I also possess every possible Chelsea merchandise, although I don't think that's a real indication of one's loyalty to a sport. Don't feel the need to prove myself, just find it interested how many assumptions people here can make at times. It's rather silly, actually.

other than combat sports, I don't watch anything else(sports). Tonight, I could care less about the Super Bowl. Too many people receive drunk and act like idiots. Most are fat people who sit on the sofa and complain how so and so did not make the catch when in fact, could they do any better? Those overweight, miserable fat slobs who rely on their failed glory days when they played junior varsity football and barely got a touchdown. Not to stereotype every football/sports fans. Some are chilly but most are not.

I keep hearing that soccer and football are the most physically and mentally demanding sport. I do think they are demanding and require a lot of practice but out of the sports I've done motocross has been the most demanding by far. It takes a lot of strength to pick up your 200lb+ bike and endurance to ride the full time. Your wearing every of your gear (boots, helmet, chest protector, neck brace, pants, jersey and more). We ride every year long in any weather condition. It takes a lot of endurance to ride for 30 to even 3 hours at a time in your gear riding in the summer heat but the bike is hot too. It's not just sitting on a bike twisting the throttle. You have to hit the jumps just right, and pick the right lines in the corners or you can receive seriously hurt. So what do you think is the most demanding sport physically and mentally and why?

My best pal Caroline's dad just recently passed away from cancer. He was big into the sports every of his 4 kids were in at least 3 sports for every season. every his kids played soccer & gaelic and either lacrosse or ice hockey. My best pal she is amazing at lax, soccer and gaelic! Her dad coached her boyfriends U16 gaelic football team since they where U8's. Her dad was the best and nicest, kindest man on EARTH! Everyone loved him! Now her younger sister who is 4 was diagnosed with cancer. Caroline has such a nice heart, she is always there to help people and in school (we are sophomores) she always has a grin on her face! Her mom is working a lot so as soon as school is over she has to look after every her younger siblings + School work/studying + sports! What can i do to receive her to talk about her feelings and let me help her! She doesn't usually like attention or help..
